Italian Wines

Pipoli Basilicata Bianco Greco/Fiano

$26.82 inc GST

VARIETIES: Greco 60% – Fiano 40%

COLOR:White

PRODUCTION AREA: Acerenza, PZ

VINEYARDS: Our low trained vineyards are situated on the volcanic slopes of Mount Vulture at altitudes of up to 800 meters. The long slow growing season, due to the high altitude of the vineyards, ensures that Vulture is one of the last areas in Italy to harvest, so late ripening native grapes such as Greco, Fiano and Aglianico are ideally suited to the poor soils of this zone.

VINIFICATION:The grapes were chilled on arrival at the winery, gently crushed and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at 10°C. All handling of the juice is done in an oxygen free environment in order to preserve the fresh aroma of this wine. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks on its lees.

SENSORY FEATURES: Yellow with green reflections.Hints of white pulp fruit. Good acidity that enhances the wine’s freshness.

BEST SERVED WITH:A lush white with a striking tropical notes that would be great with a peach and burrata salad, though it has the freshness to make a fine aperitif, too.

WINEMAKER: Danilo Gizzi

SERVING TEMPERATURE:10-12°C

AWARDS:

• Mundus Vini 2022: Gold Medal

• Frankfurt International Trophy 2023: Silver Medal
